Mount Cross Header

Dear Friends,

Advent is a season of hope, expectation, and waiting. In the liturgical traditions of the Church, we wait with hopeful expectation for the coming of the Christ Child at Christmas, as well as the coming of Christ at the end of days. While Advent is a season only comprised of the 4 weeks before Christmas, it seems to me that we’ve been in a season of Advent since the middle of March, when the coronavirus pandemic confronted us head-on: we’ve been waiting for, and expecting, life to “go back to normal”, while hoping for a vaccine or cure that will bring about this normalcy.

At Mt. Cross, we’ve also been hoping and waiting for the time when we can safely welcome campers and retreat guests back to this holy place. There’s something special about experiencing God in nature, and it’s evidenced by the countless campers who have had transformative experiences because of their time at camp.

One person who had a transformative experience at camp is Alice. She was 12 years old when her father died, and her congregation gifted her with a week at Mt. Cross. The impact that week had on her has stuck with her through her life, and she decided it was time to give back to camp.

Alice will give a $30,000 gift to Mt. Cross if together we can match her gift with donations to the Operating Fund by December 31, 2020. Will you join me in giving as generously as you are able to Mt. Cross so that we can meet this challenge?

When you give to Mt. Cross, you are helping kids like Alice. You are changing lives.

While we will still have to wait for a little while before campers and retreat guests will be able to fill our cabins and hike the trails and climb on the ropes course, we know that day is coming soon. Thank you for your support of this ministry. Thank you for changing lives.

Advent and Christmas Blessings,
